The Mathematics of Reality

Some contend that humans can never discover true reality because appearances can change according to how a person senses them. For example, a square tower as seen from a distance may appear round. Therefore, one can never be certain that the tower is truly square or round. But the truth happens to be that the human mind can never be conscious of anything except that which is true and real. Consciousness constructs reality.

Appearances can be confusing to consciousness, but that confusion always results from false combinations of true and real elements of reality. In that respect, appearances are similar to mathematics in that mathematical calculations can be true or false, but the numbers and signs are always true and real. Seeing a square tower as being round from a distance is like a mistake in arithmetic such as 2+3=6. The "6" is like the "roundness" of the tower, but both these elements are true and real. The real distance to the square tower causes it to appear round, but that only occurs because of a false combination of real elements, just as 2+3=6 comprises a false combination of real numbers and signs.

Whenever consciousness becomes confused in its appearances, the mind supplies a real element to the combination even though the combination happens to be false. Thus, when a straight straw appears bent in a glass of water, consciousness supplies the real element called "bent" even though this combination of real elements happens to be false. This is like a mistake in arithmetic. As a universal rule, all false combinations of appearances always comprise true and real elements in reality. But the falsity in any false combination never appears. For this reason, consciousness can claim that all the elements of true combinations and all the elements of false combinations are always true and real.

All sense objects and all thought objects as elements can only be true and real. They are all useful to intelligent consciousness to produce true and false combinations. Their usefulness makes them all real. Thought objects are always mental pictures of past experiences or of logical deductions. Because they are all useful, this means thought objects are just as real as sense objects for the same reason that a picture taken by a camera is just as real as is the camera and film.

The history of the progress of the human race towards greater knowledge consists in its discovery that false combinations of real elements can be usefully discarded, and the true combinations can be discovered to be beneficial to mankind.

All ideas are real. They cannot be false. Even combinations of ideas that have never been discovered to be true or false always comprise true and real ideas. For example, the combination called "Does God exist?" cannot be proven to be true or false. The "does" and the "exist" and the "question mark" can only be true and real, but the concept of "God" happens to be either a true or a false combination of real ideas such as "love," "truth," "justice," "compassion," and many others. If these true and real ideas compose a true and real combination, then God is real. But if these true and real ideas compose a false combination, then God does not exist. Only faith can supply the answer. Habakkuk 2:4; Romans 1:17 (KJB).

Commentary on Selected Verses in Isaiah

                                Isaiah 14:24-27 (KJB)

In Isaiah's day, an Assyrian army had surrounded Jerusalem and had threatened to destroy it and all of God's people. But Isaiah and the king of Judah, Hezekiah, prayed to the Lord that He would save Jerusalem. God answered their prayers, and He sent an angel to utterly destroy the entire Assyrian army, and only their king escaped to his land, but he was murdered by two of his sons. Isaiah 37:36-38 (KJB).

God made His destruction of that evil Assyrian army a symbol of that which He intends to do to the "whole earth." In the end of the world, God intends to utterly crush all sin, evil, and the Devil out of His positive reality, and He will cleanse it all of every taint of evil, and He will recreate it all to be wholly righteous. II Peter 3:9-13 (KJB). God can never lose anything He has ever created. Ecclesiastes 3:14 (KJB). The Assyrian army symbolized total, demonic evil, and the people of Jerusalem symbolized all the living that God creates in His image. Because of the prayers of God's people saved by grace for all of humanity and because of God's will that all humans become saved, God will extend His merciful salvation to the entire, living human race. II Peter 3:9; I Corinthians 13:8 (KJB). In the end of the world, Christ will appear to all humans "on the earth, and under the earth," and He will cause them all to repent and believe that He can save them from eternal death. Revelation 5:11-14 (KJB). In the general resurrection of all of God's repentant, living humans in the end of the world, God will recreate them all with righteous lives to live forever on His recreated earth. Revelation 21:1-5 (KJB). When God stretches out His hand to the "whole earth," He stretches it out in both judgment and mercy.

Every human has a good and living nature inside of them created by God. Genesis 1:31; Genesis 1:27 (KJB). But every human also has an evil, spiritual death injected into them by the Devil. Genesis 2:17; Genesis 3:15 (KJB). God intends to purge every spiritual death from every living human and save them all from eternal death. Christ did this through His death, burial, and resurrection. John 12:31-32; John 12:47 (KJB). God will save some of His living humans by His grace, and He will annul their spiritual deaths while they are still alive in the flesh. John 5:24 (KJB). But Christ will appear to the rest of humanity "on the earth, and under the earth" in the end of the world, and He will cause them all to repent and believe in Him as the Lamb of God their Savior. Revelation 5:11-14 (KJB). Christ will then use His fiery wrath against evil to dissolve their beings to separate their repentant, living natures for Him to save, from their dead, spiritual natures that He will cast into the lake of fire. II Peter 3:9-13; I Corinthians 3:11-15 (KJB).

One must read exactly that which the Word of God relates. Revelation 20:5 clearly relates that "the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished." This verse can only mean that God in the end of the world will raise all of His repentant, living humans confined to the regions of death and on the earth back to life from a state of eternal death. God does the same for humans saved by grace the moment they believe. John 5:24 (KJB). Revelation 20:11-15 clearly relates that God judges only the dead, not the living, humans and casts them into the lake of fire. These verses state nothing whatsoever about God's living humans that He has already saved. These verse relate only about the separated, dead natures of humans. Their names cannot be found in the book of life because they are dead. Furthermore, God has promised, "Behold, I make all things new" which can only mean that He must resurrect and recreate all of His repentant, living humans to an eternal life on His new earth. Revelation 21:1-5 (KJB).

The Unconscious and the Non-Conscious

The unconscious and the non-conscious are two completely different states of being. The former is in a state of being while the latter has no being at all.

When a person is unconscious, that means that that person was previously in a state of active consciousness, and that person may return to that state of active consciousness. But if that person dies, then their consciousness leaves their body in their soul and spirit, and their brain is left in a state of total non-consciousness. In a state of non-consciousness, a person can do absolutely nothing and can think absolutely nothing. In a state of active consciousness, a person can both do and think. In a subconscious state, a zombie can do but not think. If the zombie is killed, it can neither do nor think.

Those who adhere to the theory of evolution believe that the universe and life evolved within a state of non-consciousness. They cannot believe that the universe and life evolved within a state of unconsciousness or subconsciousness because they would have to admit that the universe also possesses an active consciousness. But a non-conscious universe, like the dead brain in a dead body, can do and think absolutely nothing.

The evolutionists believe that they can imagine a non-conscious universe as it evolves. But they forget that in their imaginations, they must insert their active consciousness into their supposed non-conscious universe to make it move and evolve. They must use their active consciousness to negate the non-consciousness of their imagined universe in order to cause it to move and evolve. It is quite impossible to imagine a non-conscious universe. All of this provides evidence that our universe had to possess an active Consciousness who could cause it to exist and move, and who could create life. God must exist. Genesis 1:1 (KJB).
