Psalm 79:5 KJB
The Psalmist Asaph must have been alive and witnessed the Babylonians burn Jerusalem. Asaph asked God if His jealousy would burn like fire forever.
Every individual human has an inner good nature created by God, and an inner evil nature injected into them by the Devil because they sin. Genesis 1:31; Genesis 1:26-27; Genesis 2:17; Genesis 3:15 (KJB). That which is true of the part is true of the whole. The nation of Judah had allowed evil to dominate their culture just as an individual human can allow evil to dominate his life. God had chosen the people of Judah to be His special people in the world who would bring the truth of His Holy Word to the world. For this reason, God expected His people to allow their good and creative natures to dominate their culture so that they would display the goodness and mercy of God to the world. At times, God gave them good kings and leaders to make sure that faithfulness to God and worship of Him would dominate their culture. But over time, evil kings had allowed idol worship to dominate Judah, and so God punished Judah by allowing the Babylonians to conquer Judah. God also punished His faithful people for allowing evil to dominate their culture.
God's jealousy means God's use of His power to protect His people even if they have become somewhat faithless. God's consuming fire means the Almighty Power of God. God can use His fiery power to protect His people from the destruction of evil. Deuteronomy 4:24 (KJB). Even when God is angry with His people, and He punishes them, He will still protect them. That is God's jealousy. Exodus 20:5 (KJB). The books of Daniel and Esther relate how God protects His people.
But that which is true of the whole is also true of each individual. God creates every individual human to have a good and creative nature. God can never lose anything He has ever created, and His Love can never fail. Ecclesiastes 3:14; I Corinthians 13:8 (KJB). This fact can only mean that every living human must be a child of God. John 10:33-36; Luke 17:20-21; Psalm 82:6 (KJB). The evil spiritual death that the Devil injects into the inner beings of all humans will become eternal death. Romans 6:23 (KJB). But God came to earth in human form to take that eternal death on Himself on a cruel cross, with all the sins and evil that causes it, in order to provide His jealous protection for every living human whom He ever creates and loves. Christ rose from the dead to conquer eternal death and turn it into only a temporary death. The Devil and all evil are God's enemies, never His living humans whom He creates and loves. Christ abolished eternal death itself, not any of His living humans. II Timothy 1:10; I Corinthians 15:20-26; Revelation 1:17-18 (KJB). Christ knows exactly how to cause every living human to return to faith in Him as their Savior. John 5:24; Revelation 5:11-14; Habakkuk 2:4 (KJB).
